Aaron! A Mayor Who Knows How

We used to be called “the city that knows how.” But today, our city is struggling. That’s why we need Aaron! Called even by his critics “San Francisco’s most effective Supervisor,”  Aaron will be the Mayor who knows how.

Fixing Our City for All of Us

Aaron has concrete and pragmatic plans to fix our city, protect our neighborhoods and rebuild San Francisco from the ground up – not just for the few, but for everyone.

  • Establish Citywide Community Policing

Aaron was the first to call for an emergency law enforcement joint task force to combat crime and our fentanyl crisis. It took the Mayor’s office months to implement, but now it’s making a difference. As Mayor, Aaron will institute real community policing, bringing back foot patrols and adding community ambassadors in every neighborhood to keep all of us safe.

  • Add 2,000 Homeless Shelter Beds

Aaron brought the first Transitional Aged Youth shelter to his district. As Mayor, he will build 2,000 additional shelter beds for those currently living in tents on our streets. And he will dramatically increase evidence-based drug treatment and mental health services.

  • Be the City’s First Pro-neighborhood and Pro-housing Mayor

Aaron’s housing record includes voting to approve more than 100,000 units of new housing in San Francisco, while stabilizing existing tenants and communities. A long-time neighborhood leader, Aaron believes we can have new housing without destroying the neighborhoods we love. As Mayor, he will fight to give neighbors and tenants a voice in the decisions that impact them without compromising on broader affordabililty goals.

  • Marshall Plan for Middle-Class Housing

Aaron led the passage of Prop A, the affordable housing bond, this March. As Mayor, he will launch a Marshall Plan for middle class housing – for our teachers, nurses, firefighters and families who don’t qualify for low-income housing but can’t afford market rate luxury housing. Using tax deferred financing that won’t raise taxes, we can build affordable homes for at least 15,000 middle class San Franciscans – the heart and soul of our city.

  • Controller's Inspector General to Root Out Corruption

Aaron is City Hall’s toughest watchdog and ethics champion, leading oversight hearings on corruption and abuse of power. High ranked officials have been arrested by the FBI, resigned and some have even been sent to prison. To combat corruption, Aaron will establish an Inspector General in the Controller's office to ensure that our city’s tax dollars aren’t abused and stolen.

  • Make Downtown A Neighborhood Again

Aaron has already been working to make it easier to convert office buildings to housing. But so much more can be done. We can bring housing to Union Square, encourage arts and culture at Yerba Buena and downtown, and envision a string of downtown and shoreline parks that will be treasures for those who live near and far away, from Aquatic Park, where Aaron swims in the Bay many mornings, all the way to Hunters Point.
